Fifth Avenue Office by Fogarty Finger and Dumais

Office Home

Fifth Avenue Office by Fogerty Finger and DumaisAs places where most of us spend most of our working days, it's a surprise why offices are not designed to feel more homely.  It may be difficult to draw the line between the soft comforts of home and the hard edges of a professional office, but if the right balance is struck the results can be impressively uplifting.  This office in New York created for a financial services firm by design practice Fogarty Finger and interior designer Kevin Dumais shows how.

The building offers impressive 16 feet tall ceilings, enormous skylights and classic French windows, flooding the interior space with light.  The designers amplified the feeling of spaciousness with natural wood floors in extra wide planks and emphasised the high ceilings with giant suspension lights in the conference room and main office areas, which also makes these spaces feel more intimate.  Rugs in the reception area and carpets in the individual offices improve the acoustics and add warmth.  The furniture, especially in the central reception area, are harmoniously coordinated without looking too matchy-matchy, with elegantly relaxed sofas and distinctive armchairs in layers of neutrals.

The space has the comfort you would expect from a luxurious residence with exactly the right level of formality and sophistication you would expect from an office.  Sounds like a great place to work!
