Sculptural Delights
It takes a designer with a special talent to create stunning sculptural forms with simple materials. Rotterdam-based product designer Jonas Lutz clearly has it.
He showcased a number of products at the Salone Satellite in Milan which demonstrated his mastery of form and materials. These include the Club chair, which distills the essence of traditional overstuffed leather armchairs into a sleek, minimalist chair using planks of solid ash wood. The Stay chair has a leather back which resembles a sail and a round upholstered seat, both poised delicately on a T-shaped wood and metal base in a masterclass of balance and harmony. It looks great next to the Leaf coffee table, part of a collection which also includes a shelf, a chair and a stool, all of which feature legs and supports made of wood with a leaf-shaped profile, a simple detail which adds loads of personality.

Product Inspiration
Distinctive forms in simple materials make for great sculptural masterpieces, such as the Element table from Desalto, the Hip Hop side tables from Car-Met and the Hiruki chair from Alki.
For elegant lights with striking shapes look no further than the wood veneer lights of LZF such as the stunning Swirl suspension light. We also like the simplicity of the Kizu table light from New Works and the clever Lampscapes suspension light from Frederik Roije.
Sculptural accessories are a great way to add interest to any design scheme. Try the Heirloom vase from Moustache, the Belle cake stand from Incipit and the Axonometry trays from Ghidini 1961.
