Loft in Pushkin by Horomystudio
Dacha in the City
Russia is well known for its dachas, or country cottages - holiday retreats where city dwellers can go to refresh and recharge. But why brave the Friday night traffic out of the city when you can recreate the same rustic appeal right in the heart of town? The architects at Horomystudio were perhaps just so inspired when they designed this unique loft in Pushkin, a historical resort town south of St Petersburg.
This 176 square metre loft exudes contemporary style with more than a dash of rustic charm. The extensive use of wood on the floors, ceilings and wall panels makes the loft feel almost like a ski chalet, whilst the exposed brickwork and metal details offer a hint of industrial chic. Combine that with super slick bathrooms, statement lighting and luxuriously upholstered sofas and you have a cool, contemporary city pad with all the charms of a country cottage.
