Glissade by Christian Heikoop
Flatpack Luxury
A certain Swedish furniture company may have popularised flatpack furniture, but it is young designer Christian Heikoop's Glissade collection which injects a much needed dash of panache to this much maligned category.
Inspired by the simplicity of camping gear, the Glissade range of furniture is assembled simply by inserting metal tubes into pre-cut leather sleeves. The resulting chairs and benches combine the suppleness of leather with the rigidity of the metal frame. They look wonderfully otherworldly too, and not a single allen key in sight.
Christian Heikoop is a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven (Cum Laude) and Glissade is part of his graduation project.

Product Inspiration
Create your own modern industrial style with furniture made of unusual materials, such as the Clay dining table from Desalto, the Plus concrete storage system from Lyon Beton and the brass finished Miami chair from Ghidini 1961.
Lights with simple shapes and strong materials would look great with the Glissade furniture. Try the Juliet pendant light from New Works, the Sliced Sphere suspension light from Frederik Roije and the Vegaz light from Seletti.
For accessories with a touch of industrial style, check out the Pipework coat rack from Nick Fraser, the Transmission candle holder from Diesel Living and the concrete pipeline stem vase from Lyon Beton.
