The Art and Process of Laurids Gallee

The Art of Resin

The Art and Process of Laurids Gallee As befits a designer who was born into a family of artists, Laurids Gallee is driven more by the artistry and process of creation than by the end product itself. This manifests itself in two very different bodies of work: wooden furniture decorated with artistic motifs and sculptural lighting and objects made of resin. The former is an avenue for the designer to tell stories through his work in the arts and crafts tradition, whilst the medium of resin allows him to express his creativity through form, colour and finish. The lights in resin, for example, have smooth rounded shapes inspired by boulders and are lit from within to create an ethereal glow. These are beautifully artistic pieces with an almost meditative quality, as you would expect from a creator who is as much a designer as an artist.
