The Beauty of Being Earnest
Earnest Studio has launched a collection of products at the Salone Satellite in Milan which stood out for their sculptural quality and graphic simplicity.
Founded by the Rotterdam-based American designer Rachel Griffin, Earnest Studio has a growing profile both in the US and in Europe with bold designs which straddle the boundary between art and design. Kink, for example, is a porcelain vase in a daringly simple shape which recalls industrial pipes and fittings. The Recess storage system is made up of rectangular drawer modules stacked together vertically or laterally, an elegant and pragmatic design which looks wonderfully sleek. We also like the Wavy corrugated aluminium trays and the Mull wall sconce candle holders (designed in collaboration with Jonas Lutz), especially in the sophisticated colour palette of muted grey, dark green and ochre. Beautiful products, designed earnestly.

Product Inspiration
Make a sculptural statement with bold shapes and minimalist designs, such as the Clay table from Desalto, the Gavotte armchair from Moustache and the Chariot trolley from Casamania.
We love the sculptural shapes of LZF's wood veneer lights such as the Escape suspension light. The Lantern table light from New Works and the Noon 5 suspension light from Zeitraum are also standout design statements.
For simple yet sculptural accessories try the T-Square wall shelf from Coedition, the Split Step Wood from Frederik Roije and the Darkly mirror from Menu.
