Delight in Contrasts
Fashion design legend Ann Demeulemeester is renowned for her intellectually rigorous and minimalist aesthetic. Admirers of her style have been able to replicate it at home since 2019, thanks to her collaboration (together with her partner Patrick Robyn) with Belgian design brand Serax. The partnership has blossomed over the years and now includes a full range of furniture from chairs and sofas to dining and occasional tables.
Composed mainly of wood stained in subdued hues (including black and white of course), the collection revels in contrasts. We love the simplicity of the Kube, L and S tables with their intersection of planes, some with their edges highlighted in contrasting colours and with tops in canvas. Other standouts include the Boho chair with its contrast between round and rectangular shapes and the sofas, armchairs and daybeds featuring outsized upholstered blocks on sleek wooden platforms. There are also sharp looking side tables with integrated LED lights and shapely chairs with slender, tapered legs any supermodel would be jealous of; whilst cushions and poufs with extra long fringes add a fashionable touch.
The maestro herself introduced the furniture collection as something she created because "I’m missing it, I want it, and I can’t find it”. She is undoubtedly as delighted as we are that this elegantly refined collection is now available for all to enjoy.
