Coexist Collection by Slash Objects
Codependent Materials
Balance and harmony are the orders of the day with the Coexist collection of furniture, winner of the prestigious top prize at the NYCxDESIGN awards. Brainchild of architect and designer Arielle Assouline-Lichten of Slash Objects, the collection includes occasional tables, mirrors and a daybed which are all about the juxtaposition of contrasting materials.
The Askew table, for example, features a cube of marble cantilevered at an angle off the side of a larger brass block, in an elegant study of poise and balance. The theme continues with the daybed and coffee table, both of which feature brass cubes balanced at unexpected angles amongst blocks of marble and steel. These are highly sculptural pieces which showcase the drama of combining contrasting materials beautifully.
