Blue Moon Apartments by ITCH
Colourful Moon
ITCH, an architectural studio based in Milan and Lugano, has renovated four apartments in a building in Milan. The block itself may be conventional, with an internal courtyard layout typical of similar buildings in Milan, but the interior decor of the apartments is distinctly contemporary.
The key feature of the design scheme is a palette of vibrant yet sophisticated colours. The two duplex apartments both have stunning suspended staircases, their impossibly thin treads and spindles lacquered in the same colour as the ceiling beams. The kitchens and other built-in furniture are painted in vivid tones of green, blue, lilac and yellow, which set-off against the natural wood floor beautifully. The beams and joints in the ceiling are highlighted in shades of rust and petrol blue, with chairs in red and pink providing pops of brightness. The four apartments each retain their distinct personalities but share the same airy brightness and cheerful disposition, a testimony to the success of the design scheme.
