Are You Sitting Comfortably?
Well, that depends on what comfort means to you. Whether you like it soft, supportive, luxurious or cocooning, we have an awesome selection of chairs and armchairs sure to satisfy even the pickiest bottoms.
The Soft Option
For many people, the epitome of comfort is something soft, plush and luxurious to the touch. Our sybarite friends would love the Elle Mini Lounge Chair from Sancal and the Altay Armchair from Coedition, both covered in irresistibly lush fur (goatskin for the former, furry textile for the latter). For those who prefer chairs with a firmer touch without sacrificing softness and comfort we would recommend the cloud-like Hygge Dining Chair from Collector, upholstered in a rich boucle fabric. We also like the Chubby Chic Armchair from Diesel Living, with its generous proportions and relaxed upholstery which practically begs you to sink into it.

Firm Believer
As much as we love to flop and slouch, there are times when a bit of decent lumbar support is called for. We are big fans of small, firm chairs, not only because they are good for your back, but also because they can look wonderfully sculptural. A good example is the Lepida Chair from Woak, with its solid wood construction and distinctive seat back which resembles wings or petals. The 1.3 Chair from Zeitraum is also crafted from solid wood, its elegant simplicity and compact footprint making it perfect for busy restaurants and small living spaces. If you fancy a more catchy design, try the Rider Chair from Missana, which is inspired by bicycle frames. It is surprisingly comfortable and definitely won't give you saddle sores. The Season Chair from Viccarbe is living proof that small, firm chairs can be soft and inviting too, thanks to its pouf-like upholstered seat and back. Who says small can't be comfortable?

Up in Arms
Chairs with arms are a stylish addition to any room, providing great support and exuding a sense of generosity. Our favourites include the Cassette Chair from Collector, with its chunky tubular arms and back supported by a solid wood structure. The Journey Dining Armchair from Stellar Works is a clever contemporary take on the classic Safari chair, featuring a strong masculine frame, comfortable padded seat and fabric back. If you are looking for an armchair that is luxurious yet discrete, you would love the Bold Armchair from Ghidini 1961. Shaped like a mini club chair, it has a fully upholstered seat, back and legs as well as a solid brass frame available in multiple finishes. Last but not least, we love the sculptural simplicity of the Gaulino Chair from BD Barcelona Design. Inspired by the distinctive architecture of Antoni Gaudi, the chair has a strong presence and looks great in both classic and contemporary interiors.

Rock & Roll
Rocking chairs are often overlooked but we feel a revival is overdue. Afterall, what better way is there to combine style, comfort and fun? The sleek and stylish Marshall Rocking Armchair from Woak is fully upholstered in leather and would look great in any space. So would the Klara Rocking Armchair from Moroso, with its attractive S-shaped seat and oversized back. The Hauteville Concrete Rocking Chair from Lyon Beton is a delightfully unconventional interpretation of an iconic mid-century chair design, but for maximum fun our vote goes to the Vanilla Noir Nanook Of The North Rocker from Scarlet Splendour. Afterall, how could you resist a banana-shaped rocking stool with beautifully handcrafted resin inlays?
Private Lounger
For some people, the greatest comfort is to be cocooned in the privacy of a personal sanctuary. The high walls of the Ara Armchair from Missana are designed to provide exactly that, and the chair is especially effective for carving out private spaces in a busy open plan office. The Kite Highback Chair from Stellar Works achieves a similar function, but in an industrial inspired design which works particularly well in narrow spaces such as corridors and hallways. The Husk Armchair from Moroso also features a high curtain-like back made of colourful woven threads surrounding the seat. The chair reveals as much as it conceals, adding a dose of playfulness. For a grand gesture, nothing beats the Egoista Armchair from Dooq. Its throne-like seat is surrounded by a solid wood framed rattan seat back, creating a private paradise for you to luxuriate in.
