Shoreditch Vibe, Amsterdam Style
When the popular Shoreditch mainstay Hoxton Hotel opened a new branch in Holborn in 2014 and called it The Hoxton Holborn, we were mildly bemused and wondered whether out-of-town visitors would be confused by this geographic mesh-up. Now the same team has taken the concept one step further by launching The Hoxton Amsterdam and we are impressed by how well this cross-border transplant works. Made of 5 canal houses at the corner of two grand canals in central Amsterdam, The Hoxton Amsterdam somehow manages to combine the industrial cool of Shoreditch with the laid-back vibe of Amsterdam to create a space perfect for hipsters. We particularly like The Apartment, a set of multi-functional event spaces designed to evoke the atmosphere of different rooms in a house (kitchen, library etc). We can't think of a cooler venue to host our board meetings. Smoking, especially of herbal products, is definitely not allowed.
