Slanted Delight
On a quiet residential street in the Japanese city of Utsunomiya sits an unexpected house. Designed by architects Suppose Design Office, the gabled roof of this two-storey house extends down to the ground level, creating an unusual inverted V-shape. Openings in the slanted roof provide plenty of light in the double-height living space inside as well as creating a sheltered indoor-outdoor garden, also providing a high level of privacy at the same time. This is a great way to bring the outdoors inside, all in a simple yet sculptural building.

Product Inspiration
Simple but sculptural furniture in wood would be perfect for such a minimalist space. The Heldu dining table and low back bench teamed with the Kuskoa chair, all from Alki, would work very well.
The lantern-shaped Chou floor light from LZF and the Vapeur table light from Moustache would both add a touch of atmosphere and whimsy in what could otherwise be a stark interior space.
